Find beauty in the small things…

Hello Beautiful!”

Hello Beautiful.

Leave your house tomorrow and fall gently into mine.

Take off your shoes
Or leave them on.

Curtains drawn
And the table set.

Let yourself unwind; the movers have left.

Talk to me like you do when you’re sure no one else can hear.

Walk the length of my halls and run your fingers along the frames of the pictures on my mantle.

Sit naked on my bathroom floor and listen to my shower run for hours.

Eat my food and drink my wine.
And keep your heart from all but mine.

And at Christmas time we’ll place millions of yellow lights

And wash our hands in the snow on the front porch

As the spiders and woodpeckers make themselves our tenants.

And when the nights are clear and the air is wrought with anticipation

We’ll sit on the roof

And count the stars reflected in each other’s eyes.

And we’ll carry on like fools until those eyes give way to lovelorn drowsiness.

The good kind.

When you wake up late, you’ll find me downstairs.

And every time, I’ll meet you with,

”Hello Beautiful.”

And when the door creaks, I’ll fix it 10 times before I get it right.

And when you can’t get out of bed, I’ll buy you a new one so you can have some variety.

And I’ll kiss you when your body weighs you down

And I’ll write great literature about why you are the stars and the snow and the shelter.

Because I know the doors and the windows will breathe as surely as you do.

Our days will never feel perfunctory

But we’ll fold laundry on Sunday.

And dream that we could meet someday.

And every word we speak will be “Hello Beautiful.
